Listen to a skein of cranes above my house, a typical autumnal sound at this place. In fact I can hear cranes all winter long, because some of them don’t fly further into the south. The fields and meadows in my county are a popular resting place for cranes, in early autumn you can hear thousands of them trumpeting.
